You guys know I love Pinterest, right?

I mean, I bring it up an embarrassing amount. But fact is, it’s a genius idea, and I can literally wastespend hours on there.

But despite it’s usually wonderfulness, I have a few grievances to share.

1. I don’t want to see pictures of your grandchildren.

Listen. I get it. They’re the joy of your life. They light up your days. And I’m sure they are very sweet. But the fact is, I don’t want to see their sweet little faces sprinkled in between my pretty pictures.

I go to Pinterest to get inspired. That’s what it’s for. You’re turning it into a personal Facebook album. Except, by “personal” I mean “shared with the Internet.” That is the exact opposite of personal.

Pinterest is not an online album service. It’s an online pin board service. That you share with the seven million other people who are on there. Please don’t forget this.

2. No, it’s not adorable. It’s creepy as hell.

That Peter Pan shadow wall decal? That would give me nightmares. Those long-distance relationship pillows? That’s not romantic. That interrupts my REM cycle.

***Side note: I actually sent this idea to my friend Jaimie who writes a really funny/touching blog with her long-distance boyfriend and she did a post about it. Check it here.

What is the deal with people thinking weird things are awesome? Or “sweet”? Nope. Not sweet. NOT SWEET.

3. I forgot to change the caption…and now I sound like an idiot.

So Pinterest allows (requires actually) that you write a brief caption under each image you pin. This is fine. IN THEORY.

The problem is, there are a lot of people out there who think…well…dumb thoughts. Lord knows I do. But the trouble comes when they put them into words. (See any dumb post I’ve ever written.)

In this case, people are putting their dumb thoughts into the captions. So they sound really ditzy. Or really…out of touch. With reality.

This would all be fine, except when I re-pin something, if I forget to change the caption, it makes it look like I said that dumb thing.

I say enough dumb things on my own, thank you very much. I don’t need your dumbness gumming up the works.

So there you have it. The three most annoying things about Pinterest.

Does this mean I’m going to stop pinning? NEVER. I just needed to get that out of my system.

Oh Pinterest. So much to love, so much to hate! I have yet to see grand kids on there but when I do it will be a very sad day. I often don’t change the caption because I pin on my phone or iPad a lot and the app kinda stinks so I’m lucky I can even repin at all. Somethings I hate:
The bitter war about photos being inappropriate or pornographic. I won’t mention what side I’m on though :)
I only did this once but I commented on a picture and then got 60 emails from others all commenting on the photo with the exact same comment.

I found your blog through yhl. I love the title!

#4 when people ask “How do you do this?” when they could have clicked the picture and gone to the website (That’s kind of the point, no?)
    #5 The endless inspirational phrases
#6 The weird things that people think are cool.
I really do love it, these things just annoy me.

Haha it drives me crazy when people ask how to do something. It’s like when people go on Twitter and ask where they can find something online. It’s like, REALLY? You knew to come to the internet for answers, but you didn’t know to try a Google search?

      (Thanks for commenting!)

I actually HATE when people repin my captions. I might be crazy but I can say that I never ever repin pins with the same caption. I either delete it and click space and save, or write my own thing. Sometimes I write things I want to remember about that pin, or write the names of my family so I can remember who I wanna make something for, cause like you said, I use it for inspiration. And I hate it when people don’t change it! It’s so annoying! I wish they could automatically delete the caption once you click “repin”.

    • Justine Lorelle says:

For some reason, other people re-pinning my captions doesn’t bother me as much. But I need to adopt your habit of ALWAYS changing the caption to avoid accidentally re-pinning something obnoxious ha.

  • AnnoyedByPinterest says:

The biggest annoyance of Pinterest –

People who re-pin about 50% (or more) of one of your board’s content to their own, in effect creating a duplicate of your board. I have a couple of people doing this to 2 or 3 of my boards.

    • Justine Lorelle says:

That’s crazy! I haven’t had anyone do that to me (that I know of), but it totally defeats the purpose. I guess you just have to take it as a compliment?

  • Pinterest emails that I have been pinned/repinned. Or I am emailed by Pinterest that I might enjoy certain boards. To access both Email types, Pinterest forces me to sign in several more times and this is both time consuming and highly annoying. Hello, Pinterest…you contacted me! Why must I be inconvenienced to perpetuate tour business? Seriously considering dropping this site all together….
