So, now that we’re all clear on the “what’s happening in Justine’s womb” front, I thought it would be nice to talk about something a little lighter. A bit more frivolous.

Let’s talk girls’ night out outfits.

As you know, I have a couple girls’ nights on my calendar for April. Personally, I love Rent the Runway for special event dresses. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years and have no idea what RTR is, please do yourself a favor and click that link to sign up. Basically, you can rent super expensive designer dresses for a fraction of the cost, meaning high style at low prices. (And thus ends my RTR pitch.) In other words, you’re welcome.

You know I love a good fashion deal, but in this case, even Rent the Runway was a bit more than I wanted to spend (especially because getting to/paying for said events was already costing me more than I would spend on the average night out). So I can tell you right now that I plan on wearing things I already own.

However, neither dress is currently available online, so I put together a couple of mood boards using dresses inspired by my versions to hopefully help any other girls out there with a girls’ nights/bachelorette party/cocktail party in their own future who aren’t sure what to wear.

Let’s begin!

The two dresses I have in mind are 1) a bright blue dress with 3/4-length sleeves from Old Navy and 2) a stretchy black and grey bandage dress from Express. Here are the alternatives I’ve uncovered:

For the blue dress, I like this similar version from ASOS (2). Since the dress is pretty bold, I’ll would let it be the focal point and throw on a chunky bracelet like this gold curved cuff (3) and carry something sleek like this envelope clutch (4). I’d finish the look with a taupe-y, pink-y nail polish like this color from Essie (1).

For the black dress, I’m loving this ASOS Peplum Dress with Cut Out Back (5). (According to every fashion magazine ever, peplums are having a moment now. Trust me.)

Because the black dress is fairly simple, I’d pair it with these Apt. 9 Flower Bead Drop Earrings (6) and a matching clutch, like this Merona crocodile version (8). Slap on some coral nail polish (7), and you’re ready to party.

What do you think? Would you wear either of these options? Or do you have a better idea for any upcoming parties?
