Things the 18-year-olds sitting behind me on the train have discussed this morning.

1. Why their friend is talking to three guys and sleeping with a fourth.

2. Why their boyfriends’ moms hate them.

3. Why their hair gets oily.

4. Why people need to not get involved in their lives. (Here’s a hint: Don’t speak about your life at full volume on the 7 a.m. train.)

5. Why they don’t care what people think about their lives. (Noted.)

6. What they’re going to name their children (though one wasn’t sure how to spell the name she likes…).

7. Why secret Santas at work are awkward (“What if I get an old lady?”).

8. The pros and cons to big purses. (I can actually relate to this one.)

9. Whether or not one should pursue a relationship with the guy at Starbucks who talks to her.

10. A variety of other topics all punctuated with “see what I mean?”

And all without any transition. It’s too early for this.

UPDATE: “I was so sick, I like, turned my phone off. That’s how you know how bad I was.” <– ACTUAL QUOTE FROM ONE OF THEM.

I mean, seriously.

Yawn.

It’s early, you guys.

Today, I’m covering a work went at Grand Central Station that stars at 7:30 and goes all day.

Meaning, I have a long day ahead of me, starting with a 5 a.m. wake-up call. Oof.

It’s currently 6:36, I’m my first cup of coffee in and sitting on the 6:17 train. I mean, I know it could be worse. I know I have friends who used to or currently commute on even earlier trains.

But dangit. This is early. And I’m already feeling the tiredness start to scratch at the backs of my eyeballs.

Fortunately, I think the work went is going to be pretty cool. (You can follow what I’ll be doing here.) And, I mean, they serve coffee at Grand Central. So that’s something.

Obviously I’m just writing this post to whine. But maybe this switch in my routine will inspire something cool? A blog-worthy story perhaps? I’ll keep you posted.

You know, if I don’t fall asleep first.

Everything that’s wrong with me right now.

Hooooooo-shah, folks.

Let’s have a little update on the state of Justine, shall we? Or, really, another blog post of topics I couldn’t flesh out into full posts. Because…well…you’ll understand by the end of this.

First (and most pressing) things first, something is wrong with my shoulder. At least, I think it’s my shoulder. Last night, something in left shoulder, upper back, left side of my neck suddenly shifted out of place, and now certain movements result in quite a bit of pain. Especially when I’m lying down. (ASK ME HOW AWESOME SLEEPING WAS!!!)(Or rather, not sleeping.)

So…yeah. Awesome.

Fortunately, I recalled that I had an Amazon Local voucher for an hour-long massage and chiropractic evaluation. SCORE. Unfortunately, they’re closed on Thursdays, so I can’t go until tomorrow. BUT A GLORIOUS DAY TOMORROW SHALL BE.

I also have a physical tomorrow, so hopefully I can talk to the doc about my sore heel and finally get a referral to a dermatologist so I can get my skin cancer check. Party.

SPEAKING of that sore heel. Welp, folks, it finally happened. Despite not having any kind of running injury for a couple of years (sigh), all is not well. It started a little over a week ago, when I began getting these little flushes of heat in my left heel at random times. It’s the weirdest feeling. One second I’m just sitting there, the next it feels like my left heel floods with warmth. It’s not uncomfortable at all, it just feels weird. But the actual heel doesn’t feel warm when I touch it. Has anyone experienced anything like that?

Anyway, then it started just feeling sore from time to time. Not good considering I have to start training for my third half in a couple of weeks. Not good at all.

So for now, I’m trying to keep up with my cardio without actually running. Last night, I got on an elliptical for the first time in literally years. Blah.

In other “Justine’s body” news? I need to get my hair did like whoa. Right now, I’m sporting what you might call “accidental ombre.” Or rather, my roots are just quite grown out. The appointment is on August 4th. Let’s DO this, remaining 16 days.

In other words, I’m falling apart. Such a great precursor to turning 25 in just over a week. Excellent.

Let’s all whine together, guys! Leave me a comment telling me something that’s bugging you. I promise to respond with RESOUNDING agreement that you don’t deserve whatever is happening to you.

Party.

I’ve never been much of what you would call a partier. I mean, I’m the girl who a cardigan to a legit night club, remember?

But I tell you what, folks. I’ve done you proud over the last week.

You knew about my impromptu trip to DC and our spontaneous 4th in Vegas, but then on Saturday I also had a late night in the city that ended with a trek through Brooklyn at two in the morning.

Who am I, you guys?

So anyway. I’m tired today. And mildly concerned my old-lady mentality is going to fight back against all these whipper-snapper activities by smiting me with a debilitating illness. (That oughta slow me down…)

But for now, I’ll just brew the coffee a smidge stronger (intentionally this time), get back into my workout routine, and eat a few more fruits and veggies. And hope my body just doesn’t notice that we got significantly less sleep than normal in the last week.

Because, I mean really. I’m not actually 80. (Though I am 25 at the end of the month…eep.)

Anyone else have a crazy week? We can just blame the holiday, right?

Dragging.

It’s going to be a long one, folks. We went to Bryan and Brittany’s wedding last night (and had a fabulous time!), but work the day after a wedding is not exactly what I would prefer to be doing.

In case you’re wondering, what I’d prefer to be doing is still sleeping. Alas…

Suffice to say, I’m too tired to post anything requiring a lot of brain power. Which means…an Instagram picture montage! Enjoy.

1. Getting primped with one of my besties, Heather.
2. Post make-up application. (I barely recognize myself ha.)
3. Giant group of friends at the wedding!
4. The hubs and me. (And yeah, got a spray tan…I had a Groupon. It didn’t look quite as orange-y in person. Live and learn.)
5. First dance. (The place was GORGEOUS.)(As was the couple :) )
6. Megan and I in the photo booth.
7. Heather, Megan and me.
8. Even more photo booth madness. (If you’re getting married and NOT having a photo booth…you should reconsider that. Stat.)
9. Joey and our pal Phil looking studly as always.

Anyone else going to weddings this month?

Why I’m tired today.

Hoo. Shah.

Yesterday was a long day, folks. I’m shooting these brief how-to-esque videos for work, but I’m basically doing everything myself except for the actual filming. Which means I spent all yesterday morning running around setting up for the videos, and all yesterday afternoon actually propping/shooting them.

Of course, the highlight was that I got my hair blown out on the company dime. (Listen, the internet is forever. Which means unkempt hair would have been forever. Which means it’s safer to put it in the hands of a professional.)

I went from the uninspiring before (what’s UP, unwashed hair and no makeup!)(See?? I’m not totally vain.):

To the Food Network-esque after:

I look so trust-worthy, don’t I? If you look closely, you can see the awkwardness in my eyes. (“What should I do with my hands? Does this look weird? Seriously, do my hands look weird???“)

Don’t worry, (parents and Erin), I promise to post the links when the videos are live. So you can watch me in all my entertaining-expert glory.

So anyway. That’s what I’ve been up to.

Also, the half marathon is Sunday! Tonight is my last run until the big one. Anyone else have any races coming up? I promise to think of you when I’m slogging through mile 11. (Also known as the worst mile ever.)
